Welcome

Welcome to Lingua Libre, Kunokuno!
Logo of Lingua Libre

Lingua Libre is a project which aims to build a collaborative multilingual audiovisual corpus under free licence in order to expand knowledge about languages and help online language communities to develop.
You can help us!
You can visit this page if you want to learn more about the project.

Before starting

You can create your User page by clicking on it. We recommend that you integrate the babel template onto it. It is very useful to indicate to others the languages you speak, and to facilitate finding other persons speaking your languages. If you are not familiar with wikicode, you can go to this demo User page, read the instructions and copy the prepared babel template, and then paste it onto your user page before adapting it to your information. You can then publish your User page!

Where to start?
  • Follow the steps of the Record Wizard
  • Think of the words you want to record. You may enter them one by one (live list), use an existing category from a Wiktionary or Wikipedia project, or create your own list.
Do you need help?

You can visit this help page where you will find advice for beginning your contributions on Lingua Libre. If you did not find the answer to your question, please ask it in the Chat room.

Good practice
  • Try to avoid background noises during the recording
  • Please listen to the pronunciations before uploading them
  • Consider using an external microphone

Welcome to Bikol language

Greetings Kunokuno,
I'am discovering your recording and this far away language :) If I understand well you are recording Central Bikol (bcl). I'am not sure, but would this bik list be helpful to you ? If so please ping me back. Note: I looked for but did not find bcl in UNILEX's lists. Closest i found was bik. Best regards, Yug (talk) 18:51, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Hello Yug , sorry for the delayed response. I just happened to see this now. I am not sure why bcl wasn't available. bcl is our language code for Central Bikol. Anyway, I can do records even if its in bik or bcl. I track it on commons and upload it for our BCL Wiktionary. Welcome back to Lingua Libre. Kunokuno (talk) 16:55, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi Kunokuno,
The links are broken, i will fix those within days. I think i can provide you a wordlist for bik. Which a speaker of bik can then record.
Unilex does not have corpora nor list for bcl it seems. But it's something we can create if your bcl community requested it. Yug (talk) 18:37, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Link fixed. Yug (talk) 18:40, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Kunokuno, are you able to use the Bik lists ? Is it helpful to you ? Yug (talk) 12:26, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
I have checked the pages just now and I think this will be helpful. However, I generate the list of words through categories. Can this list be track automatically or do I have to manually enter them on the word list? But I'm gonna try this tomorrow and give you an update. Kunokuno (talk) 14:47, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
I have chosen the local list and it appeared. That was my first time generating words through the local list. I'm gonna finish this list first. Thanks for this. Kunokuno (talk) 15:07, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
HI @Kunokuno I'm glad to see that you can finally contribute again to Lingua Libre! I have some advice before you start contributing further with long lists. Please listen your recordings before you submit them to Commons, and try to reduce background noises (for example, this audio: has some background noise, which is unconvenient). I suggest you to use Firefox as your browser when you record on Lingua Libre, in order to optimize the quality of your audios (we are trying to improve the quality on Chrome but we are facing issues).
All the best and welcome again! — WikiLucas (🖋️) 15:28, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
@WikiLucas00 Honestly, LinguaLibre's Record wizard is so fast, that the most efficient to be sure of the audio quality could be to ask speakers to double records each of their list. Then, if one word's audio is noisy or messed up in anyway, anyone could go on Commons and revert to the first recorded audio of that word.
Also, if we wait 10 years to find out a misrecorded audio and the speaker is no more active, therefor cannot re-record that word... We still can fall back on the first recorded audio.
It's not a priority to push forward, but given our experiences in past year (nearly zero review of our audios and likely dozens misrecorded audios per languages with no fallback)... We could keep this in mind, and mention people with over 3000 audios of this possibility. Yug (talk) 16:33, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Can't upload recordings to Wiki Commons

Hi Yug (talk), maybe you can help me. I have tried using both Google and Mozilla as browsers but my recordings cannot be uploaded on commons. I also tried on my phone several times. I have changed the mic I used, but it has the same result. I was not able to upload any recording after the Lingua Libre comeback. Thanks. Kunokuno (talk) 15:58, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Kunokuno are you familiar with opening your browser's console? If you are, could you please try to upload a few recordings and tell us what your console displays? I suspect a problem similar to this one. All the best — WikiLucas (🖋️) 07:34, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
Hello WikiLucas, this is what has appeared on console display:

I hope this can be fix. Kunokuno (talk) 12:38, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kunokuno , I checked your uploads and screenshot above, this is important and will requires more digging. Can you follow me on this ? I will need to share your screen using TeamViewver or alternative. Yug (talk) 11:39, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi, how do we do this? I have installed the TeamViewer just now. Will it allow you to have access on my device?Kunokuno (talk) 12:11, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Kunokuno & Yug I don't think that this is necessary. The problem seems to be the same that Eihel had, and that was fixed by Seb35 in phabricator:T281636. Pinging @Poslovitch for his opinion, but I don't think that a TeamViewer session would help fixing the issue.
PS @Kunokuno, you seem to have tried with only one word, could you please try the same thing with 5-10 words, please? (no need to take a new screenshot if the error is the same). Best — WikiLucas (🖋️) 13:46, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
I have tried recording ten words just now using my phone but still it was not able to upload on commons. I'll try with my colleagues here if they would have same result while recording Central Bikol words. Kunokuno (talk) 15:31, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kunokuno : trying 10 words on 2 different devices (one computer ; one Android) is a good start indeed. Depending on the outcome we may then push further on T281636 if WikiLucas judge it relevant.
@Kunokuno & WikiLucas00  : TeamViewer and remote screen control would allow me to inspect Kunokuno web browser's error messages deeper. Mostly the Inspect > Network tab, but also other leads as they emerge. Yug (talk) 16:59, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
I guess it is exactly the same issue as Eihel: error "unknownerror-oauth" + connection to LiLi ok + no upload to Commons.
Do I execute the SQL command described on phabricator:T281636#7133551? (Or @Poslovitch , if you want to do it ?) ~ Seb35 [^_^] 07:38, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kunokuno I just restarted your OAuth token, you have to log out (if needed) and log in with Wikimedia Commons, and then you should be able to send your recordings to Commons. ~ Seb35 [^_^] 10:06, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to record and successfully upload to commons. This was the first time after the Lingua Libre came back. :) Kunokuno (talk) 15:13, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
