new query for signed languages

Hi @Yug , could you explain why you added a new query for Signed Languages please? The information retrieved by your query is already present in the two other queries (since Signed Languages are Languages as well), and is only about 1 language (French Signed Language) for now. It also adds load to the already undersized query server, I don't really see the benefits in that... Best — WikiLucas (🖋️) 12:39, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello @WikiLucas00 ,
I'm exploring and building IRL collaboration around video recording, Signing communities and SignIt, with a key meeting next week. It would be fait to have a minimum statistical visibility for Signed Languages on Lingualibre. Therefor my addition. It would be unpolite to ask the signing community to contribute to Lingualibre while we barely give those Signed language visibility.
I would also like to edit the other query to make to centered on Spoken languages alone. Spoken languages have for instance (P2) languages (Q4) of media type (P24) audio (Q88889) or empty. It needs 2h hacks and tests. This will come when an editor or myself have time to do so. Yug (talk) 14:12, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Yug . I don't really know what to think, because signed languages of course need more visibility on the web, but in the other hand, Lingua Libre is a project to help all languages gain visibility online, and especially endangered ones (which is not the case of French Sign Language, please see this category if you're interested in endangered signed languages). Knowing this, why shouldn't, for instance, Papuan languages, or all "Critically endangered" languages have their dedicated section too?
I think it is preferable to consult Lingua Libre's community before putting back the query on the Stats page, what do you think?
