User:Fête Phung
Hello, just to inform administrator that I just blocked User:Fête Phung. This user is well-known on the French Wiktionary (see that for this case) and this page for the history. Here he created three pronunciations by "inventing" and misnaming them. I did not try to discuss with him since we have already tried several time in the past on the French Wiktionary. Pamputt (talk) 15:12, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Pamputt! As this is the first known vandal on Lingua Libre, I think we have reached a kind of milestone? :D
- Just a reminder for later of the 3 steps to follow when we detect a vandalism:
- Block the user;
- Nominate the audio recordings for deletion on Commons;
- Delete the wikibase items of those records locally;
- Best regards — 0x010C ~talk~ 00:06, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Give Eavqwiki the right to edit protected pages
Hi,
Eavqwiki would like to edit some special pages, like the Home page to add some useful content. Would it be possible to grant him the necessary rights? Thank you Xenophôn (talk) 13:25, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
- Done by Pamputt, thanks to him! — 0x010C ~talk~ 13:47, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Pamputt hello. Shouldn't we grant Titodutta or the Marathi leader administrative rights or mentor him/them to become admins this year. We gave adminship to few French folks based on very occasional need. I think It would be right, for community building, to raise one or two leading Indians contributors and start to share our admin know-how on Gadgets and others tools. Yug (talk) 19:25, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Titodutta , are you ok to get sysop right here? Pamputt (talk) 19:27, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hello User:Pamputt and User:Yug, I am ok to get the right. Thanks for considering. I am a sysop on English Wikipedia since 2015 (verify) and I am aware of the admin tools. Regards.
- Nice. Technically, there are IMHO few key differences here :
- Gadgets: (1) to import languages from Wikidata, (2) to hide the overflow noise of audio-recordings
- Managing a wikibase : Qid articles and properties, more like Wikidata.
- Emerging bots : while Commons handles a very diverse set of media by type and topics, we manage 100s thousands of very similar files —audio, same naming convention, same properties—. Those files need to be spread on various wikis. This regularity and outreach needs makes the faster raise of bots on this wiki both a natural slop and a need.
- Others you already know about them: managing contributors, Record Wizard to explain, lists, babel templates, etc are rather like on Commons and the Upload Wizard. Yug (talk) 12:29, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Main Page in Catalan
I have translated the Main Page to Catalan. Please, move the pages Special:PrefixIndex/User:Vriullop to MediaWiki name space. Once done, please delete my subpages. Thanks in advance. --Vriullop (talk) 18:00, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- Done. You can now visit Lingua Libre in Catalan :) Pamputt (talk) 19:02, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. Page User:Project-discover/ca is in a wrong namespace, no worries. I missed MediaWiki:Mainpage-credit/ca:
<small>''Foto: [[:File:Wikipedia mini globe handheld.jpg|Wikipedia mini globe handheld]], Lane Hartwell, Wikimedia Commons.''</small>
- Finnally, there is a typo in MediaWiki:Mainpage-principle/ca, my fault. Instead of
la oralitat
it should bel'oralitat

Template:LangSwitch
Hello administrators, some French speaking admins
I only come to this site now, but it was a bit empty, so I added Template:LangSwitch (and its redirection Template:SwitchLang, Module:LangSwitch and Module:No globals. I think it would be more prudent to protect them like on multilingual WM projects: full protection (admin only - high-risk).
I would also like to thank User: Lyokoï for letting me know about this GREAT tool.
—Eihel (talk) 14:15, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Pamputt (talk) 21:06, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Main page translation to Polish
I'm trying to translate the interface to Polish. I noticed the following keys are absent on translatewiki and locally on Special:Translate, so they could be changed only manually by admins. Please add the following translations:
- MediaWiki:Menu-statistics/pl: Statystyki
- MediaWiki:Menu-datasets/pl: Zbiory danych
- MediaWiki:Record/pl: Nagrywanie
- MediaWiki:Contact/pl: Kontakt
- MediaWiki:Aboutwmfr/pl: O Wikimédia France
I was able to translate the other texts from the main page. Thank you! I also translated all texts from the Record Wizard on translatewiki two weeks ago, but apparently, the recordings must be approved by someone before they will be imported here, which may take months. BTW, page Help:Interface is misleading, because it tells about the old version of the interface. Olaf (talk) 16:02, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Olaf for translating. I created the different MediaWiki pages. About Translatewiki, the problem is known and should be fixed in the coming weeks. Finally, I will have a look on Help:Interface and try to update the page. Pamputt (talk) 20:13, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- I've updated Help:Interface. Feel free to improve. Pamputt (talk) 22:29, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Template:Q
- Ces 6 pages mériteraient une protection (high risk). Merci d'avance. Au plaisir ;)

- Done Auf Deutsch jetzt. Txs Olaf. —Eihel (talk) 20:06, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

A l'ancienne.
—Eihel (talk) 16:21, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Temporary sysop rights
I would like to develop a gadget to address the painful problem of Commons limiting new users to 380 recordings per 72 minutes. I would like to simply develop a gadget with a warning ribbon. However, I'm not able to do it because both MediaWiki namespace and personal Common.js are blocked for standard users. Yug proposed here a temporary grant of admin rights to facilitate this task. I have sysop rights in Polish Wikipedia (since 2003) and Polish Wiktionary (since 2009), and operate a bot here, so I think it's not a big risk for the project. Olaf (talk) 15:08, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support Necessary therefore support. Yug (talk) 17:55, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support, but could you describe your idea a little, before developping it (where and when should the ribbon appear)? We definitely need to Enable user/common.css user/common.js (T273709) for all users. — WikiLucas (🖋️) 18:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Not sure yet. Probably the easiest way to achieve it would be to show a bright ribbon on top of the screen just after the successful login to Commons and return to LiLi. Alternatively, the limit could be visible somewhere in the Record Wizard dialog window during the recording, for example below the title. The text would simply explain what is the upper limit for this user and why. I think it's too complicated at this point to check how many files the user uploaded in the last 72 minutes and issue an alert just before this, but it would be nice to have the warning text translatable via Special:Translate. Of course, I won't install the gadget as default for all users before it passes your review. BTW, perhaps you could get around this limitation, using a Service Worker in Record Wizard and uploading the overflow of recordings later in the background, when the 72 minutes pass. But the user would have to be warned not to close the browser before everything is uploaded. As an additional benefit, the user could record further words, while the previous part is being uploaded. But not in this gadget, I'm afraid. :-) Olaf (talk) 18:30, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Olaf , one of the resources is {{User ratelimit}} (add an username). But I believe these links are also on phabricator. Yug (talk) 20:52, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Olaf , you have now sysop right for one month. If it is not long enough, tell me to extend longer. Pamputt (talk) 18:52, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Recording bug and MediaWiki:Sitenotice edit
@Pamputt, Olaf, WikiLucas00, & Poslovitch , we have a core bug under investigation. I haven't confirmed its widespread, but in case, I got the sitenotice ready. Edit the page to see the possible message. Please report on the general discussion forum if you see the bug as widespread or rare. Yug (talk) 20:50, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- @VIGNERON I tried to activate the MediaWiki:Sitenotice but it doesn't show up. Did this change ? Did you install the Extension:CentralNotice ?
- See also mw:Manual:Interface/Sitenotice Yug (talk) 17:08, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Good. CSS fix have been deployed. Sitenotice is back. Indentation is back. Yug (talk) 14:12, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Bureaucrat
- Moved here from User_talk:FuzzyBot
@Pamputt By the way, do Lili need an other bureaucrat/do you need help? I'm saying nothin but @WikiLucas00 may be interrested :P Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 07:21, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am not opposed at all to have other bureaucrat, so if WikiLucas00 confirms his wish to have this right, I will grant him. Pamputt (talk) 07:24, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Pamputt & VIGNERON The bus factor is clear we need at least 2 bureaucrats. For sure.
- IMO, WikiLucas may need Bureaucrat status to swiftly handle user-rights while leading workshops.
- I occasionally may needs these tools as well, to temporarily alter bots user-rights for bots and tests to come (delete, block). But i am not there yet.
- As others, I'm not familiar with details of Bureaucrat status tho. It would be healthy to discuss those publicly.
- I also suggest we move this bureaucrat discussion to the Admin board for larger review. Yug (talk) 12:34, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- +1 with Yug, I started the discussion here as a side-note but it should be discussed on a more public space. Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 12:58, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hello @Pamputt, VIGNERON, & Yug (thanks Yug for having moved the discussion here). Indeed, I think that having 2 active bureaucrats on LiLi would be valuable. In addition to the workshops/presentations that I may conduct this summer, I am active on Lingua Libre's French-speaking Discord channel and on Twitter, which can be convenient in order to address rapidly a possible issue. Best — WikiLucas (🖋️) 18:42, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- WikiLucas00 I have granted you. By the way, please note that Xenophon (WMFr staff) also have bureaucrat right so even if I, or WikiLucas00, disappear, there still will be someone with such rights easy to contact to grant new people. Pamputt (talk) 19:41, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Despite their bureaucrat status, neither GrandCelinien nor Xenophon are contributing users. They have 115 and 0 non-audio contributions, respectively.I wonder if they know how to use those tool and what would be their reaction-time in case of necessity. On the admins side, Trizek has 84 edits (a coding operation), Adélaïde Calais WMFr 76, Lyokoï has 41, Unuaiga has 16, Ash Crow has 6. Several others have been more active but are no more. Bus factor requires to have a minimum number of people in-situ.
- Concerning the site maintenance we are 3 full speed admins or bureaucrats (Pamputt ~1400, WikiLucas00 ~1700, Yug bcp), with about 3~6 truly active editors (Olaf, Poslovitch, Titodutta, Eihel, DSwissK,...). It's not much. As long as this numbers of active editors is low, we need a high admin/editors ratio. We also need to place a call for more coordinators, maintainers, event organizers, project-architects &WikiFourmi, bots masters, (NLT) lexicographers and list editors, CSS enthusiasts, JS developers, App developers (we talk about a better Sonothèque since 2018!), audio-recording specialist. Some clean up to do then we make a call. Yug (talk) 20:00, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- We have a misleading impression that we are properly staffed. We are not. Yug (talk) 08:09, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Chatroom: Done → Archive
@Pamputt, WikiLucas00, Titodutta, & Lyokoï ..., the chatroom is very cluttered and needs a clean up. Could everyone help scanning the section and adding {done} if the section is dead ? Needs everyone's help. Yug (talk) 17:14, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Yug I just archived most of 2020's posts, and marked some 2021 posts with
{{done}}
. The Chat Room is now 100kB lighter, but we may archive some less important posts of 2021. Best — WikiLucas (🖋️) 18:46, 26 April 2021 (UTC)- @WikiLucas00 Thank! Agree for 2021, some sections are already closed. I'm still on several other issues but I will do a push soon as well hopefully. Yug (talk) 19:22, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- The best would be to have a bot to archive automatically the discussion some time after no new message have been posted. Such bots already exist on Wikidata for Wikidata. Maybe it is possible to get the code and to adapt it for Lingua LIbre. Anyway, thanks WikiLucas for the manual job. Pamputt (talk) 19:38, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
