Merci Pamputt !

Et bonne année :D Yug (talk) 11:56, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Super ! Des idées comment trouver les autres chiffres ? Yug (talk) 08:50, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Pamputt (talk) 12:23, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Translate

I want to translate this page LinguaLibre:Stats Bengali (bn/ben). Could you please mark the page for translation?

--Titodutta (talk) 01:44, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Titodutta, LinguaLibre:Stats should be translatable already (it is already translated in German, Spanish, Japanese, Occitan, etc). You should be able to see a button "Translate" somewhere. If you do not find it, please clik here to access the translations directly. Pamputt (talk) 12:47, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
  • Mostly done at LinguaLibre:Stats/bn. A couple of strings are remaining which I'll finish. I'll also for a few other important pages to translate. --Titodutta (talk) 20:22, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

+ Could you tell me how do you pronounce "Lingua Libre" Q1. I am adding Bengali in some of the most used Qs on this site. Is Libre in Lingua Libre pronounced as in English or French? IPA/audio will be helpful. --Titodutta (talk) 22:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Titodutta, about Lingua Libre pronunciation, I am not aware about any official pronunciation. Maybe 0x010C or Lyokoï know a bit more about that. Personally I pronounce it /lin.ɡwa li.bʁe/ but I also heard /lin.ɡwa libʁ/ in French. I will try to add a recording tomorrow. Pamputt (talk) 08:33, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Hello Titodutta, Pamputt, there is no official prononciation for Lingua Libre. You are free to adapt its. I pronounce like Pamputt too. Lyokoï (talk) 21:04, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
Titodutta, finally I recorded a pronunciation Lingua Libre. Feel free to record your own way ;) Pamputt (talk) 18:37, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello, for quite sometime I am looking a solution for this. If a file is moved the audio player won't appear in any view (file page, upload list, etc.) In case you are using new video player, please check the file pages from a private/incognito window. --Titodutta (talk) 03:21, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Titodutta, I am not sure to know what I could do for this issue. Everything is already tracked on Phabricator. Hope we will solve this issue soon. Pamputt (talk) 12:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Deletion request

Can you delete this page, it was mistakenly uploaded, I have requested the same on Commons also Q358061. Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 00:15, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

@Titodutta I've just deleted Q358061. About Template:Div col, I will see what I can do tonight. Pamputt (talk) 11:27, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Titodutta , I have imported Template:Div col, Template:Div col ‎end, Template:Column-width, Template:Column-gap and Template:Column-rule. I think it is enough but maybe something is still missing. Could you check wether it works for you? If needed, you can import missing pages by yurself. Pamputt (talk) 17:30, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Titodutta I think it is not (yet?) possible to import from Wikimedia wiki websites. I 've opened a Phabricator ticket to ask for this feature. Pamputt (talk) 17:33, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
  • Possibly it allows to import. In case you are not getting transwiki import, XML dump upload is an option that works. Of course transwiki import would be easier if it works. Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 23:32, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Help:Bots#Bot_wishlist

Hello Pamputt ! Thanks for the great work you do <3

For your informations, I'am starting to collect info to build a bot able to edit LiguaLibre audios on Commons. Yug (talk) 05:54, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Pamputt (talk) 16:39, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Lingua Libre Story for September 2020

This is not an official story or newsletter. This is an attempt by a user to share some updates about the program. There might be more stories which I have missed.

September 2020 was an eventful month and we have seen a lot of activities of uploading new content and also around project-related discussion. Here are some of the best stories from September 2020.

  • 300,000 files: On 10 September 2020 we completed 300,000 pronunciation uploads. After the launch in August 2018, the first 100,000 files were uploaded in April 2019, and the milestone of 200,000 files was reached on January 2020. As of 30 September 2020 there are 366 speakers at this project working in 92 languages.
  • Maximum number of pronunciations in a month: In September 2020, 23,209 files were uploaded. This is the maximum number of files uploaded ever in a particular calendar month (earlier it was 22,963 files in June 2020, and 22,293 files in May 2019).
  • Indian language in top 3 list: This month Bengali language came into the top three languages by the number of files uploaded using Lingua Libre. This is possibly the first time a non-European/Indian language came into the top three most-uploaded languages on the project.
  • Project chat: Several discussion started on the Chat room, such as Bug testing (you may help), Technical preparations etc.

That's it. Have a good time.

Thanks Titodutta for this message. This is quite interesting to have such messages with milestones. Would you like to post it on the Chat room? Pamputt (talk) 16:14, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Done on chat room, regards. Feel free to edit/add, the post, like all my LL files are under CC0. Thanks and regards.

Marquer une page pour la traduction

Bonjour Pamputt,

Pamputt (talk) 05:29, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Gadgets

Hello Pamputt, I wanted to slightly add &limit=500 to the RecentNonAudio gadget. I noticed changes on MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition but didn't see any other code here. I took a quick look to mw:Extension:Gadgets. Does gadgets on Lili implies php editing and server access ? Yug (talk) 10:42, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

@Yug . Pamputt (talk) 15:15, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
@Pamputt je l'ignorais ! Merci c'est fait :) Yug (talk) 15:19, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
5000 was lagging. I opted for 800. Yug (talk) 15:55, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

Pamputt (talk) 17:11, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Github cleanup

Hi there,
I'am trying to maintain the place a bit in preparation of the freelance's arrival. I'am reviewing all repositories at an "organizational" and documentation level. Few questions comes :

  • Check-green.svg Done llskin vs BlueLL : isn't llskin the old skin (I marked it [Depreciated?]
I think you are right. BlueLL is the new skin since last year.
  • Check-green.svg Done LinguaRecorder: no issues activated (see Settings). Normal ?
  • I would say it is normal because the issues are reported on Phabricator. I think it is better not to multiply places where to report bugs or issues.
  • Check-green.svg Done CustomSubtitle: No documentation, what does this do ?
    • Precisely? No idea. There is only the description that says "MediaWiki extension adding a magic function to set custom subtitle to any content page." See more on MediaWiki.
  • Check-green.svg Done CommonsDownloadTool : one file python script. No documentation, what does this do ? I suspects it generate `datasets`.
I would guess the same but not absolutely sure.
    It's confirmed, it's for datasets.

Any idea to who ask help for those questions ?

Poslovitch said he had a look on the code so it is probably one good option to confirm what I said or to say more. If it is not here, you may find him on Discord (I cannot help more because I do not use Discord) or on another Wikimedia project (French Wikipedia?).

Yug (talk) 21:24, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi Yug I reply below each point above. Pamputt (talk) 19:52, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
@Pamputt , CommonDownloadTool is for datasets. I think Subtitle is to add a subtitle on article pages, but I don't remember where I saw that... Yug (talk) 1s document it properly on github readme.md Yug (talk) 12:03, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Also, all is on good track on Github: - All (?) repositories are now well defined. - 2/3 of repositories have now a volunteer referee-mentor. - Most are "correctly" documented - Wikimedia France hired a new Sysops, which guide volunteers on the server. Thanks to Michael & team. - Wikimedia France is reviewing freelance candidates for deeper coding. Thanks to Adelaide & team. - Wikimedia France has plan to expand volunteership toward India. Thanks to Adelaide & team. All pretty positive. Yug (talk) 12:17, 1 February 24:15, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

@Yug this extension allows to use the "#subtitle" keyword. It is currently used on the LinguaLibre:Chat_room to display the text below the title at the beginning of the page. Pamputt (talk) 20:11, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank for this catch ! Let's document it properly on github readme.md Yug (talk) 12:03, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

More detailed summary on the Discussion page ! Thank you Pamputt ! Yug (talk) 15:14, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Common.css

Hello Pamputt, for your information, since we repeatedly discussed the need to fix weird line spacing I edited our Common.css. Basically I increased the margin-top above titles and reduced it above ul elements. I inform you so you watch the page as well and review my edits if you wish to. ;) Yug (talk) 23:12, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Note: User:Yug/Commons.css did NOT work, I suspect $wgAllowUserCss is set to False. See mw:Manual:CSS. Yug (talk) 23:22, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi Yug. It looks fine. I opened T273709 to ask for Commons.css (Common.js). Pamputt (talk) 07:02, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
I will integrate the MediaWiki:Common.css modification of 2020/02/02 to Github > BlueLL > content.css. Wikimedia France will then need to be redeployed some day.
I'am lagging far behind on Phabricator these days. So a special thanks to you for leading there ;)
(I some point we will need to sit down and chat Github vs Phabricator and how we make them team up. XD) Yug (talk)
@Yug About bug tracking, I agree we should decide to report bug and ask for new features at only one place, not both Github and Phabricator. I would prefer Phabricator because historically we started to use it. In addition, it is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation so we remain on the server of the foundation; this is not the case with Github that belongs to Microsoft. So it is also a position of principle. Translate or not?

I'm confused, is Category:Lingua Libre supposed to be translatable through the Translate extension or not? Because you marked the category for translation and then rolled it back which causes the page to still be translatable but not appearing translated even if it is. It needs to be removed from the translation system if the category if supposed to use the LanguaSwitch system instead. Otherwise the page will appear on Special:LanguageStats to translators. --Sabelöga (talk) 01:15, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

@Sabelöga sorry for the mess. Actually, I wanted to apply the translation on the category page but it creates page like Category:Lingua Libre/sv that contains no page. So I reverted but I did not think that it was still enabled. So it should not appear anymore in Special:LanguageStats now. Pamputt (talk) 06:47, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. Strangely enough the category still shows up in Special:LanguageStats but blacked out with zero messages. I assume this might be some caching issue or maybe something that an update would fix, anyway it doesn't show for translators that hasn't unticked that "don't show message groups that are completely translates" box. So I guess that don't matter that much. --Sabelöga (talk) 08:42, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Actually, it is probably I do not disable completely the possibility to translate because I was not able to figure out how to do. So if you know, lease let me know :) Pamputt (talk) 13:00, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Phabricator tasks board

@Pamputt Hello Pamputt,

I started to review existing task to see if some better order may be found. As I made a group of changes I started to see the diversity of these tasks. It may be better to discuss with and follow you in this area. Here are my few remarks :

  • Some requests are quite peripherical. Should we mark them as Status : Staled. Reject them ? Because, realistically, we won't have the funding to even consider those in the next 5 years.
  • Task workload varies from minor fix (few hours) to notable development (several days). Should we create a tag for workloads : `easy`, `medium`, `heavy` or `workload-S`, `workload-M`, `workload-L` ?
  • Some are administrative tasks such as "email project X". Should we create a tag for that ?

This kind of things. I also think about 1/6 of current task-requests should be rejected. Yug (talk) 16:33, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I've seen your activity on Phabricator. I reopened some tickets you've closed too quickly IMHO. About the points you mention
  • Peripherical request: I think we should let them open. I try to create a ticket each time someone proposes something new. If we decide to move them as staled, why not but it cannot be me or you alone; it has to be decided collectively during a Lingua Libre meeting for example. Some proposal are indded rather heavy to implement and need a complete rework of all the Lingua LIbre website. So it will be probably not done soon but we can use this idea to debate of what we want to do with Lingua Libre in the future. So let them opened for now
  • Task workload: only developers can have a good idea of the workload. It takes time to evaluate a realistic time so I think first we cannot do by ourselves and second that it will be a ballpark estimate if we do it.
  • Administrative task: no opinion about the creation of a specific task. I am not opposed but I do not see the capital gain to do so. So up to you.
Pamputt (talk) 17:41, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
We currently have a "list of ideas". I would like to move to a *list of doable developments*. Something on which we could actually act. Every times i return to phabricator i spend lot of my time on taking hold (re-read) non-doable things. Not practical. We should have some way to put aside the noise. Yug (talk) 18:22, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Sorting the noise should be done quickly just by reading the title. So, the first thing to do would be to have clear title. Judging what is the noise is highly subjective. Pamputt (talk) 20:31, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Noise could be "want we very likely won't do this coming year", by example. (Yes, a subjective judgement would be involved.)
You know phabricator better than me. Should we create a milestone or something else to gather the issues WikiValley and us actually focus on this year ? Any other idea ? Yug (talk) 19:38, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
Actually WikiValley has a contract with WMFr and should comply with the scope statement. If they want to work on other topics not listed, they are more than welcome but I do not think we can decide (you or I) which one they should work on; it should be discussed publicly. And at the end, I think WikiValley may use Phabricator, if they want to, to describe what they are working on or at least indicate when an issue is fixed. If WikiValley use their on project manager/bug tracker/..., no problem, we cannot impose them to use Phabricator (or Github) if this is not written in the scope statement written by WMFr. Pamputt (talk) 20:29, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
I assumed from oral conversations that they would be joining Phabricator but I may be incorrect indeed. Still, do we have a way do discriminate between items on our plate for the near futur (one year) and the "heavy or vague wishlist" items. Is there a technical way to put some order by feasability ?
As of now, I started to group, within column, items with nearby scopes. And then, I move feasible scopes upward within its column.
The most practical-feasible issues on top, the most wishful-farfetch to the bottom. Could work...... ? Yug (talk) 21:06, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
I did more scope grouping : putting in same column and touching the task involving similar parts of the LinguaLibre Suite. Hope this help. The titles are still to improve and align, and the tasks to link together when relevant. Yug (talk) 23:43, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

P24 MediaType

Pamputt, after inspecting the code, I think this property is normal. It helps to discriminate between oral language and sign languages, but from a file type perspective. I will not undo it, but I think such removal are not necessary. On the contrary, I think we would gain to update all languages with this property. Yug (talk) 23:18, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Pamputt (talk) 08:00, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

LinguaLibre Properties ?

Hello Pamputt, I was starting to memorize properties by heart, and I noticed your lists on phabricator:T239272. Do you know of any LL page where we list all our key properties ? Or a query maybe ? cc: user:VIGNERON. Yug (talk) 23:58, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Phabricator: how to "tag" tasks as Feature request or Bug report

Hi @Pamputt thanks for your help so far on the Phabricator! I'm still learning the ropes of that tool, and I noticed you were able to edit the tasks in such a way that you can "tag" them either as Feature requests or Bug reports. Yet, I haven't found any field close to that in the "Task Edit Form". How is it done? Are you a wizard with hidden magical powers? Eager to hear from you --Poslovitch (talk) 12:20, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Enjoy. Pamputt (talk) 16:31, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Merci Pamputt! --Poslovitch (talk) 18:48, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Special:NewProperty

Hello Pamputt, following Property:P26, I'am considering the need for an Archive download URL per language property which would point to individual datasets archives from https://lingualibre.org/datasets/ . It would be convenient, also, to create this property right after P26 which is also an url. The question I ask myself is how to define this property since an url has multiple variable parts, may contain unicode and punctuations :

Any idea ?

Also, if possible, I would like to create this property under your guidance if possible. Yug (talk) 11:19, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
